MAJOR LEAGUE STONERS

The past few days I've had weird ping issues that ONLY happen on the MLS server. Normally I'm at like 50 consistently, but now its 200+. The server browser shows normal ping, but ingame it is high. I have tried 10 different servers in the same ping/ip range and they are all normal. Today, i started at 50, then at one point it doubled to 100, then 200, i could see the blips on the lagometer.

I reset my DNS, ran ping logs, trace routes, reset networks, routers, the whole 9 yards - my line is 1gig fiber, speedtests are fine (~800mb up/down and 14 ms ping to chicago). Literally everything runs fine, except that ingame ping on the MLS server.

I even did a second install of Mohaa to see that it wasn't the .exe being corrupt in some way. No dice, it had the exact same issue, but again, just MLS server (UWS freeze tag and others are normal). I am at a loss (literally, 200+ is unplayable) - has anyone run into this before?

So, more sleuthing today. When I use a VPN connection, my ping is normal again (maybe a 20 ms penalty for the extra VPN hops, but much better). Without VPN = 200+. So I have to conclude the is issue is something exceedlingly unique in the way the game packets route between my ISP and the host site of MLS's server. It doesn't show in traceroutes, or basic ping tests. But it isn't a me-issue or server-issue - I guess there is a dud node somewhere that needs a reboot.

In the meantime, playing on a VPN it shall be....
