MAJOR LEAGUE STONERS

Hello Admins of MLS,

This evening, on May 16, I was banned by Admin Tibud for Wallhacking. As many of you know, I do not use hacks, otherwise I would have been banned long ago. I love playing MOHAA, and because the MLS Stoner Server is one of the only active TDM servers, it is one that I play often. I know that certain admins and I have not seen eye to eye on some issues in the past, but I have worked at remedying my own behavior to accommodate the server's rules, such as limiting my taunt use, and contributing to alerting the admins when hackers are present in game.

Because of some of the negativity with some admins surrounding my in-game name, Battlefield_Surgeon, I opted this evening to play under a different name, that being Nat. I should add that this is certainly not the first time I have used a different name, as I am sure other players do as well. I did this so I could simply relax, enjoy the game, and not feel any pressure. I understand that it is only natural for administrators to closely inspect a player with a name they have not seen before, especially if they are performing suspiciously well. I understand that I was under close watch for that reason. However, I don't believe that I exhibited in-game behavior that warranted being banned for wallhacking, after all, I was not using any hacks, nor do I even know how to use hacks. It's not something I am interested in doing, as it would ruin the experience of a truly nostalgic game for myself and others.

I was using Machine Gun, which I find to be quite an easy gun to use, which is why I often stick to rifle, for more of a challenge. This evening however, I decided to use Machine Gun, to have a bit of a different experience. I was performing well with the Machine Gun, which I believe added to the scrutiny that I was under.

With this being said, I am asking you to consider repealing the ban on my IP address, 205.206.103.124. I believe that players like myself, as well as so many others who play the game often, help to keep servers like yours alive, in a game where the player count is dwindling. I do appreciate the dedication of the MLS team to keeping a TDM server on MOHAA running and active, and its been a pleasure of mine to participate in the server.

I look forward to hearing from the team, and if there is any information on how this ban was justified, and what I can do differently in the future to prevent this from happening again, I would look forward to hearing that as well. Thank you.

I will add, I have played with Battlefield_Surgeon for a while, he's a regular on other servers, and IMO he's a competent player, not a hacker. There are plenty of cheaters in the servers lately, but BFS isn't one of 'em.

Why are some messages answered so quickly while others are not? I shared my case almost a week ago and still haven’t received a response...

Older post but just seen it, but thought I'd give this a shot, as his brother I can fully contest that BFS isn't one to use hacks, we been playing mohaa for years as well as other games. Not once have we wanted to ruin a game, ruin our own experience and use some kind of hack, We both dislike hackers in any game, as it ruins the experience for all, I have run into hackers in various different titles and it isn't fun as many would know. Mohaa I personally don't run into them that often but there has been the times its been obvious or sightly suspicious, but he seems to have been running into it more as he has been reporting such people the last while.

Now BFS is a good player and sure one might get suspicious of him but there are many factors that go into being a good player, that can give you an advantage over average players.

1. experience, knowing the map, knowing how to play and also playing with people lots you can pick up on things people do, how they play, where they like to go. Some rounds one might go to the same spot lots etc. A good player also can predict what others may do, I for example try to move from a spot if I kill a few while being there, because I know there is a chance they may come after me, or if I don't move, sometimes I may wait for them to come, and it helps if I can hear them coming, which brings me to my next point.
2. Sounds, sounds and a good headset help a lot to determine where an enemy might be coming from, from gun shots to footsteps, doors etc. Not sound related but also could go under it is gun flashes, they can be seen through/on the other side of a wall if the player is close to it on some maps like the cross roads for example.

3. decent hardware and internet, low ping and a decent mouse actually helps, and in his case he found he did better with his newer mouse, as do I with mine at times. I'll tie good aim in to this as having good aim helps a lot too.

I know there has been times I thought a good player was hacking but after a bit just realized they were just a good player.
Now as for his last ban, I am not sure what was the full reason why it was thought he was wall hacking, like what was he doing to warrant that conclusion, he and I was talking about it after things happened and he said all he does is basically what I stated above. Again he is a good player who been at this for many years, we been playing mohaa (mainly breakthrough at the time) since 2012 and more so the last 5 to 7 years. He and I really enjoy this great game, unfortunately this whole situation has caused him to lose motivation to touch it again to even play in other servers, which really sucks as it was something we enjoyed doing together in the evenings or in our freetime in the day. I myself only played once after this happened. The game its self does not have a lot of players like it used to, or many different daily active servers or more TDM active servers for that matter, so losing good players or any players that are just playing the game and enjoying it, honestly sucks.

I'm not sure what or if there is anything he can do or can be done to be unbanned, we were thinking about getting the mohaa anti cheat volute, if that helped at all, I know there are a few other servers that like people to have it, as clearly this wasn't the first time he's been accused of using cheats.

I don't know if anything would come about from this comment post or not, but hope the right people sees it, I figured I'd just give it a shot and hope for the best, as I'd like for him to play again. This is all me, he didn't tell me to do this, in fact he does not know I'm doing this on his behalf, and would also like to just try to squash this stigma around him of him being a bad person or hacker, whatever there may be. In the last few months we have made some connections in the game, mainly him though people seem to like him.

As for the real hackers, We both are glad that they are dealt with so the game can be enjoyed.

With Tibud permission, I will give a very personal opinion.

On more than one occasion I have seen BFS played with other names (at least I have my list of registered IPs), " anschluss Osterreichs" is one of them, I got support from another admin, and we agreed he was cheating, so I decided to kick him out. 5 minutes later, surprise, BFS comes in with the same IP.
What do you think one comes to think? We have the evidence and the truth is there is no way to turn around, you shouldn't do bad things that seem good.
That's my opinion and I have the evidence in hand.
